There are so many strategies that one could use to assess their students, but no matter which strategy you choose providing immediately useful feedback is important. As a teacher, collecting formative data is essential to informing your instruction. Sometimes, it’s beneficial to get that data into a spreadsheet for analysis. When you use other techniques, you have to manually enter datapoints into your tool of choice for further analysis. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could check your students for understanding while entering the data into the computer all at the same time?
Plickers is an app and a website that you can use in tandem to assess student understanding while also gathering the data into a digital format for later analysis. Here are the basic steps to getting started with Plickers:

- Use the Data to Inform Instruction
You can sign up using your Long Branch Google account to get started. Erin Barrett at Amerigo A. Anastasia Elementary has begun using Plickers with her classes. She felt that it was simple to create and administer. An additional benefit is that she is reducing waste buy limiting the use of the dry erase markers. Her students were very enthusiastic and engaged while using this tool.
