What is G Suite for Education?

Simply put, G Suite for Education (GSFE) is a bundle of Google's powerful web applications packaged together for schools for an unbeatable price, FREE!  While the cost is easy get excited about, the power and potential of the software is even more exciting.

How is G Suite Different from "Gmail?"

It is true.  You can have most of the same features by simply signing up for Gmail or Google account.  For several reasons, schools need different features and additional securities in place beyond those required by personal accounts.  So what are the differences?

 Google Classroom! While this is no longer a "difference," it is still likely to have gone unnoticed by many personal account holders (you now have access with either account type).  

What is Google Classroom?

  Professional email address - You can be reached at an @longbranch.k12.nj.us account rather than an @gmail.com account.

  No advertising!  With a personal account, you will see advertisements.  Those will not appear in a G Suite for Education account.

Why Would I Want To Use G Suite?

We could provide you with a list of reasons, and all of them would be valid.  However, one word stands out in our minds when we think about all of the G Suite apps in total:

COLLABORATION

Whether its with colleagues or with students, G Suite excels at bringing down the walls that separate our efforts.  Create and share calendars to organize events, assignments, and teams.  Author documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and even websites simultaneously.  Extend the classroom beyond the limits of time and location.  You can do all of this with your team right alongside you.
